The nav system in my 2019 and AkGriz' 2015 (Laramie Longhorn Megacab) failed at nearly the same time. They show the trucks being in very far away places from reality (400 miles+). AkGriz' 2015 is the 8.4 radio and my 2019 is the 12" big screen model. I took my truck in for what I thought would be a warranty update but they claim that a STAR case directed them to replace the radio assembly based on the symptoms. It seems odd to me that our trucks experienced the same failure, at nearly the same time even though they are different models/years of truck.

My trucks manual high idle also stopped working. Dealer claims this is due to the Nav system failure.........this doesn't make sense to me. As of last night, the manual high idle has resumed normal operation but the Nav system has not.

I know that Ram has had some problems with these larger radios and you can read about them for days on the internet. Any of you guys in the know have any information about improvements or changes in durability for the radios?

No ideas on durability, but the 8.4 radio on my 2018 cratered this summer. Same thing as yours-nav. failed first, then touchscreen controls wouldn't work and finally just a blank screen. Got it replaced and that was somewhat of a headache as well. After installation, the controls wouldn't work or recognize my Sirius radio. After it sat for a day, a miracle--started it and everything worked! We'll see how long this one makes it. I only had 24k miles on the truck. But whoever came up with the idea of a radio that you can't turn off is an idiot!

I had to hold in the center for the two dials(volume and Tune) on my 2015 8.4 once to reboot it. As the truck on the screen was stuck in a Lowes store that I left. I think it got into that state because I left to door open the the dong beeping while I loaded lumber and concrete blocks.
