Does anyone know if there is a setting for the Nav that tells it your driving a truck or it it set by default. It wanted to send me a a highway where trucks aren't supposed to be.

nav unit - operates correctly

i live on long island too. there is no setting on the nav that makes it route differently for a pickup. outside of new york, almost all states allow full passage of 2500 / 3500pickups on roads. only in NY and some nj & ct do they not allow pickups. strange thing is if you have an out of state pickup with pass plates, you can travel the parkways.

I was stop last Jan 2009 in NY to get off the parkway with my Ford X and trailer.

If you have either commercial or truck tags you are not allowed on the parkways. And even if you have out of state standard vehicle tags there are some areas where there are real tight height restrictions.

NYS is messed up ..... definately no trailers, commercial lettering, or duallys allowed on the nys parkways. In ny if your truck weighs more then 5500 lbs it automatically gets commercial plates. . unless its a suv. . ie excursion/ suburban. . I drive my srw w350 pickup all the time on the taconic parkway and don't have a issue. . . . my dad got a tick with his 2500 excab 2002 2500. . on th etaconic. . . . I got thast straightened out though. any cop that writes a regular non dually passenger pickup on a parkway has issues any how. The intent of the law was to prevent commercial traffic on a passenger highwya. . not to prevent passenger pickups on a parkway. . as a tahoe/ suburban/ excursion is just as big. . as a pickup. . and the large suv is allowed.
