They can buy Dodge, and use the Cummins. DC was trying to unload Chrysler, and Ford still has a few billion in reserves the last I heard.

Ford is in such bad shape, the only way they could raise any capital (Money) was to sell the only thing they have left, which is there Name, and all the rights to it. They also sold there copyrights and patents. If that isn't broke, there isn't a term for it.



Fords stock has fallen to just above JUNK status... the banks will not loan Ford any money, they haven't for some time.

You seem to think 34 Billion is alot of money... . while it may be to you and me... it is mere child's play to a large corporation like Ford.



They lost 12. 9 Billion last year, this was a net loss, after everyone working was paid and the suppliers accounted for. Ford only secured this funding by selling there name and copyrights... . no bank would loan them money. That 34 billion dollars would last Ford approximately 6 months, after paying all there workers and suppliers..... now does that sound like a lot of money to you????



To keep on assembly plant open for one week cost over 7 million dollars for the labor alone. If that plant is like the Ky Ford assembly plant for the Super Duty trucks, the material cost from the various suppliers for one week is over 63 million dollars, and this is a very low figure. At that rate, the 34 billion dollars they have would keep that one assembly plant open for 485 weeks. Non figure in all the assembly plants Ford has, all the corporate personnel and suppliers and that 34 billion would last Ford 3 months tops, and that being very generous.

Less than a week after International Truck and Engine Corp. stopped shipping diesel engines, Ford Motor is cutting production of the highly profitable Super Duty.
Ford is cutting shifts starting Thursday, March 1, at the lone plant in Louisville, Ky. , that builds the Super Duty. No production is scheduled for Friday, March 2, and daily shifts will be reduced from three to one starting Monday, March 5, said Ford spokesman Tom Hoyt.
International and Ford are locked in a legal battle over money. Ford sued International on Jan. 11 over warranty costs related to the old 6. 0-liter Power Stroke engine that powered the Super Duty truck from 2002 to 2007 and over the price International is charging for the 6. 4- ...

I hope IH wins. I asked a DOT depot manager about the 6. 0 in their trucks several years ago. He said they weren't a problem in the small dumps. It was Ford electronics that was the problem. Ford could scapegoat Firestone on the Exploder because tires are easy to switch. Switching engines or power trains is going to be a challenge. I doubt Ford is up to it. They had better be "gentle" with Navistar!

Navistar to continue making Ford engines under judge's order



NEW YORK (MarketWatch) - Engine maker Navistar International Corp. (NAVZ : Navistar International Corporation

said Thursday it would resume production of heavy-duty diesel engines for Ford Motor Co.



following a judge's order issued in Oakland County, Michigan. A hearing is set for March 7 on the order. issued late Wednesday. Ford will pay for all diesel engines it receives from International Truck and Engine Corp. , Navistar's principal operating unit, the company said. Navistar on Monday suspended production of the 6. 4-liter Power Stroke diesel engine because of a contract dispute with Ford.

Ya the dispute was Ford wanted warranty moneys owed & Navistar wanted paid for the engines before they paid warranty on them!!!!!
