Rotella CJ-4...interesting observation...

Donaldson to supply mufflers??

Saw in the newspaper yesterday that a judge in Michigan ordered International to continue with production of diesel engines and supply Ferd with them.

What's this world coming to that the government has to force companies to do things. The SHARE HOLDERS should be the ones to do this, not some retarded judge.

Ford die-hards are bad but nothing and I mean NOTHING compares to Chevy Diehards. I am convinced that to get the Chevy loyalty discount you have to remove 1/2 your brain.

Sure, Ford is having troubles with their diesel but I have worked in the mining industry and got to drive all kinds of trucks. By far the biggest POS's were the Chevy's we got. Not even close. Fit and finish was crap, suspension was crap, paint was crap and the electrical was crap.

Even today I chuckle when I am driving down the road and encounter a new model Chevy that is "winking" at me. I can't count how many Chevy's I see on the road with the paint completely peeling off the hood and/or roof. I am not talking about a 20 or 25 year old vehicle either!!

Every year or so, on weekend when I have nothing to do, I will drive out to the Ford and Chevy dealerships and test drive one of each just for giggles. The Chevy's are still at the top of the turd pile last I checked. :-laf

I have been doing alot of reading on the ford diesel sites, I think the fuel mileage on this 6. 4 is poor, so I would not want one.

That really isn't anything new. My 7. 3 got 12. 5 around town. If I drove it like there was an egg under the Go pedal, I could sometimes squeeze another . 5 to 1 MPG out of it. Keep in mind, that I am not a hot-rodder!

Now, on the highway, my 7. 3 was great, I got as much as 22 MPG empty. The problem IMHO is the configuration. A V-8 will never get as good of mileage as a I-6. Not to mention that my 7. 3 still used glow plugs (and so did the 6. 0). I THOUGHT that the new 6. 4 used a heating grid similar to the CTD, maybe I am wrong.

I can't help but wonder what it's like at the International plant. I mean, they're in this dispute that makes them so angry that they halt engine shipments to Ford.

Then a court orders them to start shipping again.

Now, what if some unscrupulous managers and assembly-line workers decided that if they're going to be ordered by a judge to produce engines maybe they won't build those engines quite so carefully as they would otherwise? Scary thought.
