Helping abused children

Dave Goerand at Goerand Bros. Transmission has graciously volunteered his dyno for our next get-together! The current plan is to charge $20/truck and donate the proceeds to either a summer camp for handicapped or the "Ronald McDonald" house in Rochester, MN. I am looking for ideas.

1) When? I would prefer not to wait until June, as summer plans are in full swing by then.
2) Saturday vs. Sunday? Or, Saturday afternoon and Sunday? There are camping facilities around, and no lack of motels in Decorah and New Hampton. I can get a packet of materials from the local tourism group and mail to interested parties - let me know.
3) Other activities? Show and Shine?
4) I already have my Dodge dealer in line for door prizes or awards, any of you tight with other interested parties who might want to help sponsor?

Please let me know!

Ray, sounds good. I will try to make it out no matter what date is set. Thanks for working on this for us. Howard

Thanks, Ray!

For me, the closer we get to June, the harder it is for me to get away from work on the weekends. I like the camping idea a lot. I'd be in favor of a Fri-Sun camping option with the dyno on Sat. or Sun. That would open up options for coming one day, or the whole weekend depending on individual schedules. I got the impression from our last event that Sundays have less conflicts than Saturdays for some of the guys. I'll e-mail you some dates that I can/can't make it.

This may work out better than I thought. A fellow firefighter (with a pop-up camper) is from Decorah. I'm sure I could talk him into a weekend at a campground there. A Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning sound like a blast. Also, I may have some business there anyway as we are looking into an air compressor for our SCBA bottles (we had a fire this morning and went through 18 bottles).

As far as answering the above questions;
1)April would be fine. Anytime in May would be excellent (the 26th is my birthday and it's on a Saturday over Memorial weekend). June would be fine too, but others have already expressed problems with that.
2)Saturday or Sunday. Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning would be great.
3)Show and shine? Don't count on me doing that. BOMBing missions would be a good idea. If anyone is going to do this, I'll bring my tools. Let me know in advance.
4)What kinds of prizes should I look for? The picking of sponsers around here will get pretty slim in a hurry. Maybe Geno's, DIS, Scheid or someone else will be able to help. Ooohhh, maybe DTT would be able to be a keynote speaker!!! That would be awesome!!! (Calm Down. Don't get ahead of yourself. )
If you have any other questions or need anything from me let me know. I'd be more than willing to help.

I have since talked to Steve at Dubuque Diesel, and he is planning on coming up. He sells the BD version of the VA box, and is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the fuel system. I'm trying to work him over for door prizes/awards. Ray

Count me in! As of right now, any weekend in May is fine except the first weekend. We'll be bringing the camper and will probably leave Fri. night after work. If any campfires get out of control, I feel we'll be in good hands #ad

Thanks for all the info Ray!

Last part of April would be better for me as the fishing/camping season is getting into full swing by the first of May. Would be a excellent chance to ring out the new rig. Hopefully it's here by then. #ad

I would be interrested depending on what ends up working out for a date. I was too busy to make the 8 Dodge meeting... too bad as the weather turned out relatively "fine".

My last two weekends are May are shot (friend's bro's 21st and ATV rally in Hurley, WI). Most of April and May might be tentative as I will likely be helping my dad plant corn and beans (unless it rains).

I would like to meet some folks and see their trucks. I might as well see what the old stock ETH puts out.

Unless it would be pushing things, early-ish April would probably be my best bet... I would go for a Friday after work thru Sunday morning deal.

Sounds Great!!!!
May need to check with campground, most around here don't open 'till middle of April. May would be great. Will try to make it whenever.

I would be interested in attending depending on the date you select. I have a wedding to attend either the second or third weekend in May. Any other date would be fine for me. It would be nice meeting some local members.

Ray , thanks for trying to get this event going. As far as when to have the meeting, any time is good for me. I like the idea of a Saturday into Sunday event. Show and Shine would be ok I guess. Thanks again.

Dave, thank you again for all your hard work on putting the last event together.

Ray,

Are there any campgrounds that you would recommend? By the way, Jenny wants to know if her Beetle is welcome at the dyno #ad

She wants to see what it will do after it is bombed with the 2HP chip... just kidding.
Thanks for any info you have.

The Pulpit Rock campground at Decorah opens April 1. I don't think they take reservations, strictly first come, first served deal. My contact didn't think it would be a problem, especially if people came in Friday PM, or earlier on Saturday.

I hate to disappoint anyone - but I think one of the first 3 weekends in May would work. Why don't you all check calenders, and let me know. We'll get something nailed down soon.

Ray,

I probably couldn't make the first weekend in May. The next 2 should be good for me with the 2nd (5/11-13) the best.

Thanks,

Dave

April is best bet for me, fishing trips already booked for May, Wedding Annv and VICA competition already carved in stone.

The third weekend (5/19 5/20) is the best for me. I better go visit Mom on Mother's Day or I will be in trouble #ad
Otherwise, weekends in April would be OK.

Paul

Hi Everybody!
After April 28th is best for me. Before the 21st might work but things are getting tight pre-matrimony wise. I picked up a 14 cm turbo housing and am looking for injectors for the old 12 valve. (THE correct number! #ad
) We could do before and after comparisons if anybody was interested. (and if the TC holds)
Camping would be great, good work RAY!
