Last Call For Comedy Club...

In 2005, the Diesel Hot Rod Association is taking a Thunder in Muncie show (National Series) to four or five locations throughout the United States. West, central, midwest, and east. Now, the Northeast didn't support the DHRA last year very well, but that doesn't have me convinced that a drag race/truck pull wouldn't do well in Reading, PA. This decision is crucial and the events are hefty in cost, so we need to target an area early that will support this event well.

My question is to all of you, why should I look at the NE over the Southeast US for this type of event?

Why couldnt we hold an event in the NE and the SE

Having the event in Reading would be good for me but I,m sure the alot guys down South would have a hard time making it. Merv

It would be the races and a truck pull at Maple Grove.

The first year, we can't have that many of them. We have to build the interest in the show. I'm positive we'll have enough competitors I just need to pick the right place in the Eastern US to kick this thing off HUGE.

You all miss the point ENGLISHTOWN RACEWAY PARK is the place to go. :D Its one of the oldest tracks around and well run. It draws big crowds for the Diesel Nationals as well. JMHO OH yea its kinda in the middle as well. ;)

Remember he wants PULLS and DRAGS both. The facility would have to be able to handle both or would have to be very close to one another, right?

The Old Bridge Township Raceway Park (AKA: Englishtown Raceway Park) with its 60 ft. wide and 4,150 ft. long Drag Strip on 308 acres, makes it the largest drag racing track in the Northeast.

Old Bridge Raceway Park is a NHRA sanctioned track that is open 40 weeks during the year (March – November). It has a miniature Eighth Mile strip used by the NHRA Junior Drag Racing League, a MX Semi-Pro track, a MX Practice track, and they are building a 1. 35 mile by 40 foot wide Road Course with a 1,400 foot straightaway.

The Annual Diesel Truckin’ Nationals & Motorsports Spectacular will celebrate its 28th year at Raceway Park in September of 2004. I have attended this event every year for the past five years and there is always a good time to be had by all. There has always been a good turnout in the diesel pick up class at this event.

Therefore, I would think that this site could support both Racing and Pulling. Given past attendance, there would be a good amount of racing participants but, I don’t know how well this site would attract Pulling participants.

We don't wish to be a part of that race, but thanks for the heads up.

I think we will start in the South East then we will look at the North East eventually. Thanks for all of the replies.

NO...WAIT...COME BACK!!!

Don't give up so easy!! I about messed myself when I saw "Reading, PA" in your post. I was just at Maple Grove this past year for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals. Pretty sweet. The only thing that could of made it better would be if they let me on the track with my truck. We may be "up North", but there is still a good number of rednecks that would love to come out and play if you have the event up here... myself included.

Why not Englishtown... Now I see why it's hard to get things organized when 1 person is so negative on a GREAT place!!! The first time I went was last year and had a blast!!!

BTW... Not 1 truck ran under 14 sec...

Yeah, I would have liked to seen some racing take place at Maple Grove or even at Englishtown. There are plenty people up this way who would like participate in some good old fashion drag racing. Please reconsider about holding an event up this way.

Why would you not want to go to where the diesel nationals are held? I have raced Englishtown (Not with my rig anyways) many times. The staff is exelent , accomodations are plentiful , the place is clean and easy to get to. I would reconsid ... reconcid ... . Think it over.

Englishtown is without a doubt the best place around. Been there many times over the years. Always a good time.

BTW - Us yankees have pulled more rebels backwards than they've walked forwards. Just makes good sense to hold it in the NE. Advertise it well, and you'll get plenty.
