My 2002 with auto transmission has not responded immediately when I have tried reverse the last several times. there is a hesitation as if it was in nuetral. Any thoughts on cause and is this a warrenty repair. Less than 22,000 miles on truck. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If this is when you first start the engine in the morning. Idle in Neutral for 15 to 20 second to circulate the fluid. TC will drain down, which is very common. Stock transmission does not circulate the fluid in Park. SNOKING

Yes this transmission issue has happened when truck is first started. I do allow warmup in park, but I will try to place in neutral as you suggested. Is this an indication of potential problem?

Probably not as long as it only happens when you first start the truck. As long as you're not noticing any other transmission problems (i. e. slipping, high temps, etc. ) then I'd say it's probably just overnight converter draining.

Nope-- just a design quirk. Let it idle in neutral (p-brake on) for a couple seconds to get the fluid moving. It should respond immediately when put in reverse or drive.

If NOT, then you MAY have a warrantable issue.
