As stated, need high quality 120VAC Sine wave output. I'm aware all inverters have a "modified" sine wave output, but some are better engineered than others. We're looking for a brand recommendation based upon your experience, charging/running laptops, or other sensitive electronics.

Our Acer laptop was intended for [DeLorme] GPS routing when RV'g, but it did not charge from its wall wart in my or several other inverters. Leaving in 3 weeks for Orlando area. Need something before then.

I'll contact the manuf. for any additional details such as 'form factor'. [I know just enough to be dangerous, eh]

Thanks much.

Yea, but that doesn't solve the problem of using anyelectronics I may need or desire to buy or use. I'm looking for an AC supply I don't have to think about, output quality wise.

i wonder if there is more to the problem. I have 2 acer laptops and a compaq and they all charge ok off any of the cheap modified sine wave inverters I have. I think they are xantrix (sp) a Canadian company. I have used both 300 watt and 1000 watt units
You should be able to find a true sine wave inverter but it will cost a good bit more.

The previous suggestion of looking for a 12 volt charger may be the way to go, but I would guess there is an inverter built into them as most computer chargers are 18 volts.
Actually anything I have tried to run off these inverters has worked. The one thing I have heard mixed stories about is DeWalt drill chargers possibly not running correctly but I have not tried it myself

I charge 2 laptops, dewalt and milwaukee cordless tool batteries, and run a few misc accessories off the cheap 400 watt i verter in my service truck. I think your no charge problem is deeper than the quality of the inverter.
