Hey guys, I need some info ASAP. My dad's '07. 5 has had turbo troubles since early summer. We took it to the dealership in July before harvest, and they drilled the hole in the housing, sprayed the cleaning solution in, etc. etc. That fix lasted for 30 miles exactly, and the MIL light was on first thing next morning. Pickup does some idling, but we've tried the 'driving hard' trick among other things with no help at all. A neighbor has an identical pickup. It has been to the dealership NINE times, thats right NINE times. Turbo was cleaned twice, and then REPLACED twice! He is now getting a new pickup under the Lemon Law. The dealership says Cummins has no fix as of yet, and they have no new turbo's to install. Dad's pickup is currently 3rd on the list for a replacement. I spent alot of energy convincing dad to get a Dodge/Cummins, because my '02 has been a good rig. Makes me look pretty dumb now, and he's not very happy at all. Any info GREATLY appreciated!

P. S. -Rig has 15,000 miles on it.

There is plenty of discussion and experimentation with unplugging or removing the EGR along with a DPF delete kit. Most report better MPG and no sooting issues. If you go that route, I'd wait until after getting the new turbo.

I have never had a problem with the turbo. I have had the egr replaced and the DPF is being replaced in the morning. The tech guys always ask me if I use the exhaust brake and yes I do all the time every time. They say this will keep the turbo from sooting up and having to be "cleaned" of replaced. Here is a link to some pics of my truck. Dirty Pics!!! - Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum Like I said no turbo problems but dang is that dirty or what?
