Mobil 1 synthetic 5w40

My stock clutch has finally gone the way of the dodo. I am needing a clutch for a '98 5 speed to handle around 400 horsepower. Any suggestions? I have a guy in Texas that said he will make a Kevlar clutch that will hold the power and be livable in my daily driver for around $550. Thanks for the input.

Had to change my clutch about 8 months ago, and after talking to Piers, I went with a 13 1/4 " CON OFE conversion.

I have been very pleased with this clutch and its holding power. My rig: 98 QCab long box 4X4 12V last dyno run 418Hp (have bigger injectors now and airflow) and I frequently tow 10-11,000 lbs.

Would definetly recommend the SouthBend Clutch.

FYI, the previous clutch was a Luk Pro Gold that lasted about 8 1/2 months and desintergrated itself (with less horsepower going through it).

Im running a LUK 13" cerametallic. I love it. It have about the same amount of $$ in it as you listed, even with having the flywheel re-drilled to accept the larger pattern.

I tow all the time(in excess of 18K sometimes), haul the camper and boat, no complaints. Its a little grabby if you try to start in 2nd with a lot of weight, but thats expected.

For the money, its a GREAT clutch. If I wasnt on a budget, I woulda sprung for the Con-FE, but I dont regret the LUK one bit yet, in the 20K miles or so I've put on it...

I have a 12" Southbend CON-O clutch that only has about 1500 miles on it, and the surfaces look almost new. Ended up removing it because I tow heavy and the 12" clutch hubs arent really strong enough for pulling heavy with a bombed truck. They are supposed to be ok for normal driving to I think it was 425hp. If your interested I can send you the assy and you can check it out and see if it is what you want. If you use it just send me a few bucks. No biggie. I think the dampener springs rattled a little since they were the heavy ones. Other than that its a fine unit for non-towers. Just thought id throw it out there just in case some might want it.

I have the same clutch - MU13. 125- OFE...

I know its crazy, buts it holds 600hp on the street... Only slipped when asked to hold a 4wd - 2nd gear launch from 2500 rpms...

I give this clutch a big thumbs up for quality, Althought I would go with the higher plate load thats now available...

yeah just cause you have a triple disc... .

I gots the OFE and love it. I am going to be going to a dual disc as soon as I get the injectors and turbo on though. Maybe I will see how long its lasts though.
