Archived need a fuel tank for my 96

So far it's been a dead end search. My son was out using my 96 club cab & not realizing, one of the fuel tank straps broke while driving after he had just filled the tank with fuel.#@$%! The tank had fallen just far enough to scrape along the black top while moving. Due to the engine noise while driving, he could not tell until he got the truck home. Then he also wondered why the fuel gauge was no reading "full" at this time. A nice hole had worn through the plastic causing a leaker. Now I'm in need of a replacement tank. A web search so far has not gone well for another one. New straps are easy to find. Anyone out there maybe know of where I can locate a vessel? I would HATE #@$%! to have to go to a dealer not even knowing if they're still available. I appreciate any input on this ..........Mike

There are a couple decent junk yards I use every now and again- newcomerstruckparts.com they are out of Waynesboro PA and triple nickle out of Chambersburg PA. Generally have nice selection of all makes of trucks. I'm sure it'd be atleast a 4 hr one way hike for you though, not sure if they ship and that would be pricy. Check junk yards in your area if there are any or maybe craigslist for a dodge truck being parted out.

You have to call them for what you want and they'll pull it for insurance reasons you can't pull parts anymore. I did a quick search around NE PA for dodge diesel parts and there was a guy in Binghamton parting out a 2000 3500 diesel. I'll see if I can get the link

Vols, Thanks for checking into this. I do believe the fuel tank from year 94 to 02 are interchangeable. Am I right with this?

Oh man that's a bummer! Most parts are interchangeable from 94-02 trucks except brakes, trans, I can't say with 100% certainty iff fuel tank works but I ASSume so! Iff me I'd keep looking for a local parts truck or an aftermarket tank like Vulcan or one of those tanks that mounts in bed

U pull it pretty much died here in NJ several years back.
The insurance companies wanted another 30K/yr to keep them opened.
