Can anyone tell me how to tell if I have too much play in my kickdown cable?? I call DTT this afternoon and Bill thought it I was having a kickdown problem. I was supposed to call DTT when I got home but as usual I had to work late and they were closed so I am hoping some on TDR can help me

Get someone to push the fuel pedal to the floor ( with engine off of course) and you underneath move the kickdown cable down by the transmission. There should be anywheres form 1/8 - 3/16 of an inch of movement left. This is how I was told to do mine by Darren, at DTT employee. And by the way, the adjustment up at the top is a bear to do. Make sure your pinching fingers are in good shape!

cable adjust

Yes, the 24v engines use a clip on the cable to lock the adjustment. If you are not familiar with how the clip comes off, take the cable loose from the throttle linkage and remove from bracket so you can get a good look at how to remove the clip without breaking it. When removing the clip, hold the cable by the housing so as not to lose where the adjustment is at the time. If you break the clip, it requires a new cable to get one. :( Adjustment is as mentioned above, should get you close.
