Need a little more....

For all those that massage other than Cummins, what can I do to my DT530E corn binder to up the pulling power a bit. I would like to be able to get my 5th wheel over the passes a little faster. It's a 275 hp 800 tq motor at this time. Any suggestions??? And NO I do not want to repower it with a Cummins :-laf (although the thought has crossed my mind) :-{} . I do not need a bunch, 1-200 ft/lbs would probably make me happy on this one.

the sugestion of repowering your rig would be senseless,the 466/530 engines are at the top of the pile when it comes to medium duty power. not very computer savy so i cant provide the link,but there is a site you can visit for the info you seek. try looking on the DIESEL GARAGE web site,there is a guy on there that goes by the name neverenoughhp,he has the link listed in his signature. i believe the site itself has a link to the info you need,it's called low buck turn up. of course the dealer is an option aswell.

JUeckert, Thanks, I'll check it out. Nah, just kidding about the repower... . well maybe an ISX... geez... had to slap myself there. No complaints with the 530, just a little weak in the steep grade dept. I have a dealer checking into some of the options. To use the factory uprate 300 hp or more requires an inframe rebuild with steel crown pistons plus quite a bit more stuff. $7k plus.

i felt silly sugesting the dealer,after seeing your location is in cal. i would suspect there could be emmission issues out there,that the dealer would not want to be a part of. as for internal engine differences,i would think there is no difference between a 300hp and a 275 hp 530,but i could be wrong! in years past it was common to find internal differences in the same engine,but with all the cost cutting and such nowadays,i wouldnt think that would apply.
