Took my truck into the dealer for a check-up, and they tell me the rotors and drums are warped pretty bad because I'm about 1000 lbs overweight. (the truck, not me #ad
) I have 43000km on her and try not to race up to corners and slam on the brakes so as to heat the brakes up.
Needless to say I will be getting a stick the next time around with an engine brake.

Sorry to hear that about your baby. I had a 98 and traded it in on a stick. If you haul or tow anything you will not be sorry of the change.

You are better off jabbing the brakes to a stop. Riding the brakes to a stop is what building more heat in them,than jabbing them.

It would probably be cheaper to install a DTT torque converter and exhaust brake than trading in your truck for a new one,unless you simply want a new truck.

I do pulse or "jab" my brakes when coming to a stop and give myself plenty of room to let the engine slow me down. I was going to buy a new truck anyway before they change the truck and common rail injection would be nice. I also think that the 5 speed would be better for an assault on 400hp. #ad

Hey Jason. I have a different skid now with cabinets, cable reels, etc. Fully fueled, full of supplies and me and my helper in the truck I'm right at 12000lbs.
