Welp... ... 187,000+ with no problems and the VP44 finally took a dive. It seems those rebuilt ones I have seen discussed via the stealers @$900 exchange are also history... ... . now the best price I could find is $1250... ... .

Anyone out there who can point me to one (known good) used or rebuilt for somewhere between free and cheap will be my hero..... This has caught me at a bad time as I just spent some major bucks on another project and funds are low.

I could kick myself HARD since I watched a NEW one go on ebay last week for $610... ..... HELP!!!!!

I replied back to his post. I Hope they are still $750. I found it hard to believe, but it did come in the next day to my house. Unfortunately, the problem was not my VP44. It was a relay. I had the same symptoms after the install. I have my original one with 100,300 for sale $350.

I got your message when I came back in the house from picking one up yesterday for $1018 (rebuilt)... ... . I would probably have bought your old one but thats the way it always works... ... you find a deal 10 min after you buy something lol... ... .

Back up and running and thats the important thing... ... .

Thanks though... ... . and if you still have the old one laying around when my pocketbook recovers I will take it... ...

That's what always happens. Someone told me to check the relay 2 days after I installed my new pump. Oh, how I wished I had that info before I installed my new pump...

Evidently, it is an uncommon problem, but it did fix my problem.

In the under hood fuse box, there is a relay labeled Fuel System Relay. The turns the power on to the VP44. Before I changed the relay, when I turned the key to the on position, I could hear the VP44 clicking for about two seconds before it gave up. After I switch the horn relay with the fuel system relay (they are all the same) the vp44 clicks one time when it powers up. My hard starting problem has gone away.

My problem was, my truck would always run right, if you get get it to start.
