2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Need Advice about Purchasing a 95 CTD

A good friend of mine has a 1995 CTD 3500 2WD 5 spd Extended Cab w/179,000 miles.

He purchased it from the orignal owner 4 months ago. He has a used car lot and has really taken nice care of the truck during these 4 months. The original owner really took good care of the truck also.

Paint is excellent, hasn't been wrecked, and the only known issue is the volume control on the radio.

I want to purchase it for my son. He has a 99 Chevy Z71 regular cab and could use the extra space and also needs something that will handle my Lance slide-in and maybe my 5th Wheel RV.

Question - what should I look for as potential problems?

The rear bearings were recently replaced.

Truck looks good. Sounds good. Drives good.

I have owned a 2000, 2002 and my current 2004. There is enough difference that I most likely would not know what to look for.

BTW - I can probably pick the truck up for $7,600.

The KDP needs to be blocked. Some have sloppy steering. Mine doesn't. The 5th gear nut should be looked at. Some fall off. Other than that the truck is almost bullet proof.

I would agree with "bullettproof"- I had a 95 ctd for over 200k and not one single major problem.

They are real slugs when stock but easy to mod. The nice part is they are mechanical rather than computer controlled. A shade tree mans truck!
