Need advice before I let the dealer touch my truck

Thanks, TDR Staff

Looks like a clutch grenaded.

Will my 2003 be ok with just a new shortblock?

I did not want to be counted as only a lookie lou.

It is a newly available fix. No one really knows how well it will work yet. So far as I know, only one person has had it done (not me) and they have not burned even 1 tank of fuel... . Good luck with the decision.

I do hope it helps those that need it. Glad to be driving my '99 at a rock solid 15mpg for 177,000+ great miles.

I just got it done today. I drive city and highway and fot 12. 1 average. I am anxious to see what kind of change there is. My overhead was way off. Go to 3rd gen engine and transmission thread for more info Tommie

My uncle had his done monday, he works as a salesman at the local dealership. He claims that his overhead computer is more accurate, but he also thought that 1mpg was accurate before. He still says he hates the mileage, but thats mostly after I tell him my 12V gets 20mpg. He wont ever say the mileage he gets, so I cant help you there.

My advise about taking your truck to a dealer? Bring your friends: Smith and Wesson. Watch real close when they go out to get it, drive it in and work on it. Question anything that you're curious about. Squeaky wheels do get the grease. Do not be a PITA or yell, those wheels get salt water.

Ok, I'll post something also just so I'm not called a lookie lou  My advice? Patience, grass hopper. :D

There are a few threads about this both here and at the other Dodge site. It's still so new that the only comments people can give you is that the overhead is reading higher, the engine run's a little smoother and what kind of magazines the service dept. has in the waiting room. :-laf I too would like more info on this but I'm just going to have to wait till it has been out long enough for guy's to start reporting back info on it.

And if your looking for help with taking your rig to the dealer for work, thats a bigger can of worms than the **** poor fuel mileage these trucks get. :-laf
