I would like to hear if any of the performance boxes enhance the fuel economy. I have a 99 Ram 2500 with 4:10 rears and 185 BFG's and will probably go to 305 or 315 tires the next time I need tires. I am looking to enhance the fuel ecenomy of my everyday ride. I have been reading about the Hypertech programer, the superchip programer, the akin box, and the edge juice with the attitude which won't be on the market till Jan. 06, and would like to hear views and words of wisdom on the aspects of fuel economy with any like products. With the current price of fuel and the fact that I would like to purchace a mega cab in the future, I'm looking for a way to economicily enhance my fuel milage. Thanks, Brad

BSnyder,I have a 2000 5 speed with 3:54's and run a Hypertech with RV275's and a few monthes ago on a hand calculated trip of 700 miles across I-90 which is for the most part flat I was able to get 20. 5 mpg pulling an empty 32' gooseneck flatbed that is steel. I choose the Hypertech because you can check and erase codes easily and it does the same as an Edge EZ for the same money. Might be something to look at since you can't read codes on a 99 without a scanner or reader. Hope this helps.

the bad thing about the programers is if you go to the dealer for any thing, chances are they are going to update your ecms software and after that the programer will not recognize the truck and will be useless, even if you pull the performance option back out this can still happen. So be careful.

I would definitely go with the van Aaken V5. They give good power with a good gain in you fuel mileage also. The V5 is also cheaper than the other products and in my opinion works better.

I've been VERY happy with my EZ. With my 2002 as it is in my sig I average 23 mpg empty. And thats not going easy on it... ever.

When I do tow, its usually a Cat skidder weighing about 7500lb on a 3500lb equipment trailer. So, roughly 11k and I get about 20 mpg on the interstate running an average of about 70mph. And pretty close to 20 but not less than 18 mpg around town in stop and go traffic with the same load.

Since installing my Edge Comp I have seen 2-3mpg increase across the board, Empty, pulling, Highway, and around town on level 3X5. And if you want Smoke you can do that to. :-laf

I have to disagree about the SuperChip not working after an ECM update. Yes you need to restore the truck to stock before the flash. I have used the same SuperChip on 5 different powerstrokes. I bought a Dodge SuperChip tuner and have used it on 2 different trucks with no problems. I would say that 3 of the seven trucks have had an ECM flash and the tuners worked great.

I can't give an opinion on anything but the SuperChips because it is all I have ever used. I know it really woke up any truck I tried it on with the exception of a 1997 powerstroke. It did help that truck, but not near as much as the newer ones.

I am not affiliated with SuperChips in any way. I just use their product and love it. It is also great to be able to pull & erase codes.

Good luck!

Brian
