Need advice on new tires.........

My OEM 245/75R/16 Michelins have terminal sidewall cracks from sun damage @ 70,000 miles. I'm thinking about bumping up the size to 265/75R/16 on my next set. I've got 3. 54 gears and a mild 70HP box. Will my acceleration and low end grunt be noticeably effected? I tow my livestock trailer in the mountains on weekends and it runs approx. 7200lbs. max. My truck is 2WD. How about interference and rubbing inside the wheel wells?

I just put a set of Michelins on my truck, LT 265-75-16's. I've had this size on the truck before and had no rubbing problems. Some of the sport models come with the 265's as OEM stock. If you go to any reputable tire dealer, just ask him to test fit one on the front to make sure there's no rubbing. Turn the wheel both ways stop-to-stop. I'm willing to bet there's no problem with the fit. Go with the "E" rated tire. I tried a set of "C" 's and went through them in 35,000 miles. The dealer credited me for mileage on them in exchange for the new ones.

Thanks for the info. My wife wants a "Cadillac" ride so I think I'll have to go with a "D" rated tire. Any particular brands that give adequate performance and safety with a comfy ride for Mama?

I'd stay with the OEM tire you have now, 70,000 on a set of tires on a CTD is great I think. I hope I can get that kind of mileage out of a set of them. I think a "D" rated tire will get less miles than the OEM's.

If your wife wants a "Cadillac" ride, do what I did, buy her one! My wife has an '03 Deville we bought used with "Cadillac Certification". That being it has a 6 yr. -100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. I wanted it for the warranty alone. My local Caddy dealership has stood behind it so far...

I have run LT265-75-16's since the truck was nearly new. I on an empty truck I use 65 psi. front and 60 psi. rear. loaded or towing fifth wheel or slide-in truck camper run 75 psi. all the way around could go to 80 psi, but haven't needed to yet. these pressures give me even tire wear and it drives good with a pretty good ride. Never had a tire rubbing problem even with loads. I have used Goodyears Wranglers, Cooper Discovers M&S,and Firestone Steeltex

I run michelins ltx-m/s with monroe reflex shocks the trucks rides smooth with or with the 5er hooked up

I'm running 265/75R/16 Michelins on my 2002 2500. No rubbing problems here.

295-75-16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on the factory forged aluminum wheels. No rub. I do have the 4. 10 gears though... .
