I've searched and did not find the answer.

I would like to buy an SWR meter. Can someone tell me what is a good model to buy? Are they all the same?

I have a Cobra 25 CB with talkback and increase power output.

Thanks in advance,

Charles

As with everything, there is good and junk. No SWR meter should be left in line. It should only be used as a piece of test equipment to verify an antenna match. Good SWR/Reflected power meter, Hands Down, industry standard... . A Bird Model 43.

I have (2) Bird 43's with plug in elements from 1 watt to 5000 watts. You buy the Bird 43 and then purchase the plug in element for the power and frequency range you want to check. I also use Birds with line sections in my 3 High Power Amateur Radio Repeaters. They are costly even used, but if you ever want to sell it, there is always a market.

ON the other hand, not really much logic in getting a $500 meter for a $99 radio... ;)

Here's what I use on my Ham Radio setup - this is permanently installed on the output of my 600 watt mobile amplifier...

Diffrunt strokes fer diffrunt folks... ;) :D

It's simple, cheap and effective - not much need for lab precision or hi-tech at 27 mhz... ;)
