Need advice: RE: 24V 01 HO

Truck will stumble after sitting overnight. Sometimes just a dip in RPM sometimes stalls completely. This happens while idleing, before I drive away, 1-2 seconds after startup. If it stops completely, it is a long crank cycle before it restarts. Will smoke while cranking. Sounds to me like air is getting pulled in the fuel lines somehow. NO CODES. Starts and runs 100% during the day. I know the 12V's can do this if the rubber fuel return line degrades and lets air in but never heard of this in a 24V. LP pressure is 14PSI idle.

Any ideas?

could you be losing your heaters possibly? alternator dipping way low when they come on is also possible (bad battery or ground)

watch your voltage when it first fires. on a stone cold engine it may die or get real lumpy if the heaters didnt continue to cycle after a startup.

not to be a smart hiney here but that two stroke oil could be seperating from the fuel while sitting and causing a problem too. id have to check the wieghts but one or the other is lighter than the first and will float or sink however you look at it. i wouldnt think that lite of a trace 200:1 would effect it though. what is that? less than an ounce per gallon?

Problem solved! Westech fuel pressure sender #3 started leaking. It was seeping a tiny amount of diesel and allowing air to enter as the fuel drained back into the tank. Took the POS sender off and no problems or air in the lines in over a week.

I replaced the rubber line in the connection between the fuel filter and the VP-44 with a section of clear plastic line forming an inverted P trap. The bubbles and fuel quality were easy to see then. I think will remove the loop and leave the clear line there permanently.
