2Gen3Gen, I don't want a buy-back. That would leave me completely without a truck. Because all my experiences with Dodge (before this) have been completely trouble-free, I would end up buying another Dodge. Problem is, I won't be able to get as good a deal on another as I did on this one. As I said in my first post, I got a brand new 04. 5 on the cheap because the lot was full of 05's.

The other reason I don't want a buy-back is that I personally don't want an 05. I have a NV5600 and I am not interested in getting the new transmission. Hopefully this will end sooner rather than later, I miss my truck.

Have they eliminated the possibility of coolant leaking into the oil? An oil cooler leak would easily cause this, and would show absolutely no external signs of leakage.

Another update...

Just off the phone with the dealer. The regional rep told the service tech to start by ordering new injectors. The tech is hoping to order all 6 but Star might force them to start with only 3. The plan is to install the injectors, take some test drives and see if the oil level moves. They hope to have the injectors on Tuesday.

Another update...

Just got off the phone with the dealer. Apparently Chrysler was fighting them on how many injectors they could order at once so they said screw it and grabbed the service managers demo truck and grabbed the injectors out of it. I asked him "how many miles on those injectors" and he said "only a couple hundred I think" so I told him I wanted to know EXACTLY how many miles those injectors have on them. If it's less than what I have on my truck, I am ok with it but SHOULD I be? What do you all think?

BTW, they are hoping this will fix the issue. They are going to put the swapped injectors in and do a test drive.

More updates...

Well, the latest update is that it isn't the injectors. They replaced all six drove it and it's still leaking fuel into the oil. Chrysler is now asking them to replace the injector pump. If that doesn't work, they are going to replace the head.

I thing of note. The dealership has offered to go after Chrysler to get them to re-imburse me for a payment. I didn't finance through Chrysler but he thinks this is a text-book case where Chrysler should do something for me.

I have been wondering the same thing. I haven't asked because I didn't want to sound like a retard. I will call first thing in the morning and ask. If it's coolant, would that make it the block that's leaking or can coolant come from elsewhere?

Shawn

Update...

Well, the dealer ordered a new head for me today. Hopefully will be here Friday although I seriously doubt they will get it installed in time for me to get my truck back before the weekend.

I did ask about the possibility that it was coolant. They said they were sure it was fuel because they verified it using dye.

Keeping my fingers crossed the head shows up in time to get my truck this weekend.

Update...sorta

The dealer was unable to complete the head install yesterday. They are HOPING to have it done by noon today. I am trying not to rush them but I sure and sick and tired of driving a PT Cruiser.

If you're blowin blue smoke on start up and fillin up your oil pan, I'd go for the long block, sounds like some rings ain't ringin

At Last!!

I got my truck back! Dealer says it was a crack caused by a hole that was milled too close to a cross-over tube. I am going to watch the oil very closely. Just happy I don't have to drive a car any more. I hate cars.

not trying to be a PITA but that won't cause your problem unless the tubes are leaking also. the tubes don't allow fuel to enter the head normally. did they also replace the tubes? if the tubes are leaking, there is no way to stop the fuel from getting into the oil even if the head is perfect.

Well, I am going to continue to monitor the oil situation very, very closely. If it rises again then I will be back at the dealer asking for a new motor.
