Ok ladies and gents. I need your sage advise here.

I've got a 2002 3500 4x4 that I'm looking to put a front air dam on to keep some of the air out from under it and maybe improve the fuel mileage. The factory air dam is a possibility but I'd like something that hangs lower. Any body got any suggestions short of me fabricating something?

Also looking to put a vinyl bed cover on the truck. It needs to be some thing that I can either roll up or remove easily since I pull a gooseneck from time to time. Friend of mine has one with the snap fasteners and after watching him trying to fasten it in cold weather I'd rather stay away from that. Any body got one of the covers with the velcro strips on it? And I'd prefer a cover that clamps to the bed rails so I don't have to drill holes if possible...

Thanks,

Don

I've got an Access rollup cover from Agri-cover that has survived 3 years in the Vegas sun. The company is in North Dakota, so they have the cold weather testing covered. Looks as good today as the day I put it on.

Releases from the inside, so along with a tailgate lock, I've got the back dry and secure. Time to roll up to open is about 30 seconds. Takes about 45 seconds to close it. All the bars roll with the cover. Velcro secures the side. It has built in tensioner adjusts to keep it tight.

Used to have one of the snap covers that snapped onto rails clamped to the bedrails. Never will own another one like that again.

My dad has a Fold-a-Cover - I like it and am considering purchasing one.

Sorry, no ideas on the air damn. IMO, a front air damn alone, without side skirts of some sort, won't be worth the effort.

As an update to this project:

Found a couple of fiberglass front air dams on eBay which fit the '98 and the '02 dually. Bought both. While the '98 has the factory air dam, it doesn't have fog lights and both replacement air dams have holes for fog lights. Now to prime and paint the fiberglass pieces...
