Need advise on toyota diesel

I drove my 06 quad cab to denver to pick up a truck from a friend.

1981 toyota with a diesel engine. I am going to rebuild the engine.

Terrible blow by, i need some guidance on where to buy parts. I have already tried tonka toys.

The best place to buy parts will be overseas. I would start in south america as there are lots of those trucks down there. Any reputable machine shop should be able to get most of the internals needed for a standard rebuild. As long as the block, head and crank are good the rest should be a cake walk.

Mike Wilson, MWilson, is the best parts man on TDR. He is parts manager of a big Freightliner dealer in Maine. He's away from the phone and computer this week but should be back next week.

I would ask Mike his advice before doing anything radical. He may be able to recommend a US source.

You can try these folks, they specialize in Detroit/Allison products, but were able to procure parts in Europe for some Deutz/Kohler units we had at work.

ebay has a few parts too... . in fact they have complete JDM take outs..... hmmmnnn... what can I put one of those EFI Turbo motors in ???

I think BPINE had one of those trucks. He is usually pretty resourceful.

The JDM distributor in Commifornia can source a lot of parts for your rebuild. Our local UPS guy just rebuilt his with a gasket and bearing set from a local machine shop and a set of rods from the JDM guy.
