I am shopping for a 4" Exhaust for my fathers truck (since his OEM tailpipe rotted off). I have a pieced together system on my truck and this time around I am going to buy a complete kit seeing how the prices these days are much more affordable.

The BigExhaust.com kit and the Summit Racing kit are both around $300. The next step up would be the Jardine kits and the kit from Rip I think they are around $425 or so.

Are the more expensive kits worth the extra money? I should mention that I really don't care about the muffler that is included :) If the less expensive kits fit and install fine, I cannot see why I would want to spend more money for essentially the same thing. One more thing, I don't care about the thickness of the pipe. My pieced together system is mostly 16ga and it works fine for me.

Any feedback would be much apprecaited.

Thanks,

Ryan

Here's another vote for Rip's system. Just had one installed two weeks ago. A quality product form a hell of a great guy!

I also have the Rip 4" with 5" rolled edge stainless tip. Very high quality and excellent service/install. Sounds and looks awesome:D

I vote RIP's

I got most of the other bombs from him too. He carries more than just exhaust parts and is a heck of a fine person to work with. Totally up and up. I would call him for parts of any kind, if he does not carry it he can stear you in the right direction.

Big Exhaust

Don't know about 4", never had one. I am real happy with my 5" from Big Exhaust.

Nothing against Rip, I've heard nothing but good about his stuff.

Don't forget the TDR discount if you order BE. They had one when I got mine.

Thanks for the comments.

It appears I only need to spend about $50 extra to get an exhaust from a vendor that more closely related to the end user. That, IMHO, typically means they are more concerned with customer service than some of the larger vendors (to be fair I should mention that I have always had terrific customer service from Summit).

I think I have ruled out BE because of their sketchy customer service record with members here on the TDR.

Thanks again.

Look like any thing else out there you will only get what you PAY for. So why not spend just alittle more now and not worry???? You live in the middle of the salt belt, It only makes sence that you invest in a stainless steel system, J... . C... . , you are luck two get three years out of an exhaust sytem up there. Buy it once and forget about it. There are several good ss system around, I would personaly recomend the HOG PERFORMANCE system, but you get what you want. We get alot less snow down here then you do, and our exhaust systems are only good for 2-3 years. I figured it out along time ago, you can pay alittle more now, or alot more latter. You should know better, alot of these posters live in the desert, and sun belt. They might be abile to get 4-5 years out of there system??? I'm not shure, but Where you live it's a whole different game. I just hate to see people throw there money away.
