I have a 2wd with 4:10's I am only getting 16 mpg in my daily driving,, mostly city with about 4 miles on the e-way. . Can anyone tell me what type of things I can do to get better mileage. . My truck is bone stock at the moment. . I do have a bug deflector and a tonneau cover on it ... oh yeah, this is traveling with an empty load..... ???? I have considered getting a edge box, but don't want to do that until I have gauges... ...

Lighten up with that foot on the accelerator pedal. I have heard that some of these boxes you can plug in will give you better mpg but I don't know which ones. Been think about putting one on mine too.

I have only been driving at 65 with the rpms at 2000,,, I bought this truck thinking I would get excellent milage. in the 20's atleast..... didn't relize the 4:10 would make that much diff... ...

Mileage

I've had good luck with an aftermarket overdrive system.

Also 4" pipe and a box.

20. 7 MPG combined city and highway.

24. 7 MPG highway only.

Both non towing. Oo.

Up there your running that winter fuel now so thats gonna knock your mpg down some. Come summer you should see a increase.

I see you are in Michigan - I imagine your are getting some blended winterized fuel which doesn't help the mileage - and short trips in cold weather don't help either (cold enging/trans oil/tires/snow). Did you see the same in warm weather? - Mathew

LOL... you guys baby your trucks too much... 4x4 48re 35" bfg 4" exhaust 4. 10 gears = 12. 4 mpg :) Yes id like better but what can i do... P. S. the speedo isnt recolo'd so im guessing i actually get 13. 6 mpg

Actually Macker probably needs to do the opposite, get on it a little more like XcX suggests :) If your commute isn't very long say less than 10 miles then that certainly hurts mileage. 16mpg is not bad at all for a 4x2 in winter with 4. 10s, I have been seeing around 16. 5 with mine and don't consider it bad at all. In the summer I see 21-22 on the highway.
