She runs great but no power steering.

Anyone looking for an '83 DODGE crew cab?

I've concluded that the slave cylinder that I'm using just isn't enough. While trying to get the truck into gear I bent my linkage that I made from the clutch pedal on my Chevy to the slave cylinder I mounted on the firewall . I don't think the lower slave cylinder I mounted on the side of the trans is big enough to open the clutch all the way. The upper slave cylinder came off of a freight liner so I think this is ok. Should this clutch be this hard to push with this transmission? What should I use on the lower slave cylinder to help the clutch pedal be easier to use?

What are you trying to operate the the freightliner part with ?

is the freightliner part the master cylinder or the the slave cylinder ?

Yes they push hard renember that clutch if its off a class 6,7,8 truck is not light to begin with and weigh probally 3 times the weight of a standard pick up

clutch and pressure plate . You need to mate all the compents ,(hydraulic )

to the system your useing ,the light weight pu stuff wont doit

my advise is to go all freightliner stuff or go mechanicle linkages ,or have a custum hydraulic shop build you some thing

The master cylinder is off of the freightliner. The slave cylinder was the one the guy had on it before but it's obviously no where near strong enough. If I called roadranger would they have the right part for the application?

Is there a part number on the slave that was already there ?

Any heavy duty truck manufacture would probally have or beable to get the

part ,but as far as the metal link age on your pedal that you might have to make or look at a comparible chevy 2 ton truck setup in the same year as your cab

The problem that I'm having with the big truck manufacturers like freightliner and volvo is that the parts guys don't know how to use anything but their computer. They want vin #'s and model #'s and I obviosly don't have it. I've spent the last 2 days working on this and I know it's out there but I'm having a heck of a time finding someone who can help but hey the truck runs great as long as I don't try to move it, (after replaceing the injection pump and the injectors!!!!!!!

Is there a Big Truck Wrecking yard near you ?

If not do a search for American Trucker Magazine

It has sevral yards advertised in it or call

Dvolk, I was just reading an old post where you told me to junk the roadranger. I should of listened to you. I've spent probably 6-8 hours on the phone trying to find a slave cylinder that would work and I'm having very little luck. I'm going to call that yard you suggested tomorrow. The good news is that it starts and runs great once it's moving.

It really sounds like you have a huge can of worms , if you got it cheap that could be the reason why you got it and the other guy didnt finish it
