Yo list... . anyone know the throat size of the front calipers on a '94 2500.
My service manual doesn't list this and the parts houses all have conflicting information.
I replaced the pads, rotors and calipers at 200,000 miles. Both rotors were undersize. I replaced them with new american made, complete with both inner/outer bearing races and ABS (not required on my rig as ABS is rear only) sensor rings.
The calipers that were on the truck would not open enough to allow the new pads (Raybestos) to go over the rotors. The previous owner had a brake job done but wasn't sure if they replaced the calipers. I was short by 1/8". Replaced the calipers with remanufactured ones and had about 3/16" more space than needed. The old calipers had a throat size of 2 7/8" and the remanufactured ones had a throat size of 3 3/16".
All is together and working well. I have never in all the brake jobs I've done (I do all my own work) experienced having calipers that were so much wider with new pads.
Anyone know the correct throat size?
Thanks.
