I need lugnuts... HELP!

Hey guys... sorry if this is a dumb question.

I travel for a living with my job and need brakework.

I'd like to go to a "chain" of some sort in case there's any warranty work needed, I'm rarely in one place more than two months.

Any recommendations?

I recommend NTB. They did my '93 and work was good and on-time. I've bought my tires there since 1991.

I'm in Spokane and we have several chains... most of them offer some great prices on very inexpensive parts... . my BIL used one of them and they kept doing warranty work on his truck... he's 300 miles from me... . I looked at it after they had replaced the pads 3x's free but always charged him for the rotors... a piston was stuck and one side would wear out... . they didn't care, they just threw on pads and sold him rotors even though his first repair included calipers... . we never understood the logic of this...
 
IMHO those chain brake shops that offer freebie replacement of parts that fail are not charities and certainly not in business to provide free parts and labor for the life of the vehicle.



Let's face it, they are going to make money from you one way or the other. Remember two old adages: "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" and "you usually get what you pay for. "



I buy quality MOPAR parts from an online MOPAR parts discounter and pay an independent mechanic to install. You will rarely go wrong with factory parts.



Having said that, I realize that not everyone shares my views and may prefer the chain brake shops. Each to his own.
 
How about using a dealer? They're one of the few shops you can be sure to find everywhere in the country. Brake work is pretty straightforward, so they're unlikely to screw it up.

I'd use a dealer, but I'm in CA right now, and the shoprates are ridiculous... however, a friend closeby owes me a favor, and will do the labor for free.

I was looking at NAPA and they have AE metallic, Metallic safety stop, metallic tru-stop, and severe-duty metallic listed.

Any clue on the differences?

I tow a pretty heavy fifth-wheel, and truck is my daily driver.

Almost all pads sold in the US are manufactured by 4 vendors off shore... . and each of those builds a different formula and puts various names on based on who they sell them to... .

Any of the NAPA products will work but their bottom line price product... in some applications they don't offer their price product because its so inexpensive... .

Make sure the boots are in good condition and that the bleeder is opened when the piston is retracted and the dirty fluid goes to the ground. . or catch container never to be used again...

Since I'm not up to date on the Napa product I'd take one of the two in the middle... . I assume you have an exhaust brake to take some of that load off the brakes... . if not go up one more step... .
