Not TDR Sanctioned

Let me go on record that the Turbo Diesel Register is not aware of ANY of the details of this group purchase other than what we've read here.

We have "heard through the grapevine" that the manufacturer does not feel it is necessary to contact us to review the details or follow our website guidelines regarding vendor promotions. I could delete this thread, but since some of you seem to have an interest, I would prefer not to do so.

I will not move/close/lock this thread, but I encourage anyone even considering participation in this offering to please proceed with caution and be sure to do diligence by checking references from other product owners, shop prices, understand any/all shipping implications, understand any warranty offerings, etc. This may be an exceptional deal; I simply do not know.

Thought you readers would appreciate a heads up.

Just curious, there was a Buckstop "group" purchase last May. I don't recall seeing or hearing anything about it being "TDR Sanctioned. " At the time I needed a new bumper due to an errant deer. Dorian seems like an easy person to deal with. Am I missing something here about this purchase?

OK since there is so much confusion i will try to clear it up since i started this. I tried to follow the rules of TDR and the only way i didnot comply was not haveing the vendor contact anyone directly at TDR, because Buckstop did not see the need to make the call. I surmise that may be because of the last one or two group buys that had already been arrainged, I dont no for sure. At any rate the terms seemed the same as the last group buy to me, perhaps i'm missing something?? I ordered my bumper and other people have i do believe, so if TDR can't sanction it that kinda hurts my feelings. Thanks for nothing Sorry for rattling on so

I ordered front and rear bumpers on Tuesday. Dorian said it would be about 8 weeks build time but seemed very easy to deal with. He was in the process of putting together a large order for a local boat and off road dealer.

There was a problem with another group purchase where some members did not receive the product which they paid in advance for.

I believe Robin is only trying to cover the TDR incase something goes wrong

I just got off the phone with Dorian and ordered my rear bumper. Since I'm just getting the rear one he said it should only take 3-4 weeks as they are much easier to build. I asked him if the diamond plate could be powdered coated as well and he said no problem. And for those wondering, your card will not be charged until the bumper ships. I don't know if anyone saw the TV show Trucks last week, but they put a front and rear Buckstop on a Dodge 1500. Dorian said he had a bunch of calls after the show. So if you're on the fence about ordering better make up your mind cause the time lag could increase.

Buckstop Bumper

Just an FYI,

I had a negative run in with Buckstop over the past few months. Be carefull on how long they say it will take. I ordered mine in December before Christmas and was told 5-7 weeks. Next week was going to be week 7. I called them last night to check up and they told me 3 more weeks, even though I had called and spoke to them about it in week 5 and they promised me no later than week 7. They finally broke down after I complained to follow thru on the 7 weeks.

I still decided to cancel my order for this and other reasons. I have the full details in post I created today.

Not trying to make anyone mad, I just dont like to be treated they way they treated me when I was going to spend 2000 dollars. I also dont like to be lied to.

Greetings from Buckstop:

Just to give you a little background, Buckstop has been doubling sales every year which is tremendous growth in a manufacturing company. We are currently building a new facility which will facilitate triple current production level. Construction completion was set for mid December. As many of you know that have done large projects, schedules move - - always out! As it sits now, our move in date is March 1st. This construction delay has built up a large back log that we are working feverishly to remove. Thank you all for your patience!

I would just like to set a couple things straight that I have read in this post and others. If you read the posts from NNelson you will see that the bumper he ordered was not late. He actually cancelled before the due date. When he expressed frustration with the possible delay, we agreed to move him up in schedule. At this point, he asked for a RoadArmor style grill guard, which we don't make and he obviously wanted. NNelson also had called to check on the unit 3-4 times before the stated due date - which we understand. If you multiply that by 200 people a day, calling to check on something that was stated up front to take a certain amount of time, you can imagine that we are busy on the phone.

It should be pointed out that Buckstop took zero dollars from him at any time and did not charge him any cancellation fees or restocking charges. The bumpers are hand built, custom to each specific order.

It is frustrating to try to help customers, juggle schedules and manage extreme growth and then get bad press like this. We just felt you all needed the full story. Thanks for your support.

Update

Dorian from Buckstop just contacted me about this group purchase/volume discount and our getting off to a bit of a rocky start.

According to Dorian, the information posted by jlehman is correct. All units can be ordered through Buckstop and will be shipped from Buckstop. Dorian did tell me that due to their growth, they are later on shipping than they'd like to be. But he hopes that with the new facility, this will be rectified soon.

Feel free to call Dorian at Buckstop directly with any questions regarding this group purchase/volume discount.

Not to worry ... . easy to read between the lines on most "bad press".

I'm glad we got all that straightened out. Now let's get those orders in so we can get that 20% discount! Oo.

Man! All you guys gettin' in on this BUCKSTOP GB are killin' me.

About a month ago we tried a GB on the UTE bullbar bumpers, but that one fell short because there was no Group to Buy. Maybe it was just bad timing cuz everyone was still recuperating from Christmas.

But DANG it sure would've been nice to get a GB on those bumpers. Nothing against Buckstop, I just prefer the lightweight, design, and finish of the UTE.

Hope you guys get enough bumpers to get a good discount!

am I too late?

I just started my search for bumpers tonight and came across this thread. Is the group buy and discounts still available? When is the deadline (if not all ready past)?

JLehman, sent you a PM.

I also am interested in a Buckstop bumper. I e-mailed them through their site about a purchase with the TDR group buy. I am still awaiting a reply.

Well, it's a free call, plus you would probably talk directly to Dorian who would answer your questions in "real" time. I find that much easier than emails back and forth. But to each his own. Hopefully not sounding like a smart***.

Someone PMed me the following

Glad to hear I'm not the only on who had a run

in with Buck Stop

I ordered mine in October 04 and it took 12 weeks

originaly they said 5 weeks

for me to get my bumpers and then they

woudn't ship them to where I wanted them shipped

I had to drive a half hour to pick them up

on top of that they charged it to my credit card

4 weeks before I GOT MY BUMPERS

I wanted these bumpers for 2 1/2 years and I

wasn't happy once had to wait this long

my truck looks good with the bumpers on

this is just my 2 cents worth
