Need exhaust to pass inspection

I have an '06 megacab I bought last year after the 02 was totaled in an ice storm. The 06 lost from the muffler back recently and my inspection is overdue. I'd like to replace it with a stainless turbo back system. I've been out of the TDR scene for a while and don't know much about the truck I bought or what is current with aftermarket goodies. I'd like any suggestions that meet the following guidelines:

1. As free flow as possible without drone.
2. Best bang for the buck as I'm recently unemployed after 26 years in the same job. Downsized.

I had a Silverline with free-flow muffler on my 02 that was great. There was no drone, only additional turbo whine, which I have NO problem with. But emissions were different then. I guess the 06 needs a CAT? I'm totally clueless after 02.

You should not need over the axle pipe to pass inspection. As long as it is past the cab it should pass.

Stainless will pit/rust after a while.

I had to rework the rear section of my s/s exhaust. I used aluminized tubing and it looks way better than the front s/s section after 100k miles.

Don't waste the money on s/s.

the 06 does need a cat,as far as the rest goes it will vary by state laws.

I forgot to mention the muffler has holes in it too. Can anyone suggest any brands and where to buy for a good price?

I have the Silverline T-304 Stainless on my 06 model and love it. The kit can be ordered with a different piece that allows you to use the factory lead-off pipe and catalyst.
Short of that, I would either put a Donaldson muffler and fix the remaining issues or put the top of the like MBRP system on it. I belive MBRP and Silverline are the same as long as you dont purchase the cheap aluminized version of either.

I have the shorter Donaldson (43"?) and while it's a bit louder most the time, it has no drone. Don't use the 51", it drones like crazy.
The 43 has a great idle sound to it. Not loud but very throaty.

you'll want to leave the Cat on, if you don't need it now you will down the road.
Even IF you don't have emissions inspections where you live most inspections have a "visual" for emissions hardware ie: cat converter.
If it came (was born) with it, it has to be in place to pass inspection. All that needs to be done is run the VIN to find that out.
