i'm going to wire a lock-up switch on my 95 2500. i was hoping to use the spot next to my o/d off switch (where fog light would be) with a switch from the dealer. the dealer quoted me $56. 00 for the switch, which is outrageous #ad
has anyone gotten this switch cheaper #ad
?

I took the blank out, drilled a quarter inch hole just left of center and installed a mini switch leaving the right side of the blank undrilled for a future function. The mini switch is about $5. 00.
I still haven't found a use for the lockup since my truck is stock, I don't have an exhaust brake and I don't drag it. Let me know how it works for you. I thought it might get me up the Cuesta Grade with a little less rpm but all it did was lug the engine down.

Good Luck,
Tom Sjodin

The switch from the a dealer here in my town was $35. I got one at a salvage yard for $10, and I also got the plug for the back of the switch to make the wiring easy.

I was gonna get an extra fog light switch for my reverse lights. Guess I'll try the junk yard, that price is rediculous.

I also paid $35 for one and it only lasted a year before it wouldn't stay on unless you pushed it just right. Junk yard next time.

nwohsy, use that spot next to the o/d switch but just go to an electronics store and buy a switch that will fit in there top-to-bottom. I hid the side-to-side gaps with black electricians tape installed from the inside. Clean installation, looks good, costs very little.

I put a rocker switch in that spot. Then later I had more switches than space to put them. I made a custom switch panel and put it in where the stock cup spiller goes. My cup holder now is a Cup Smoothy from Geno's that attaches to the front of the junk box between the seats. Opps, I mean center console. The OD lockout switch is just a momentary make switch kind of like a door bell so I replaced it with a push button on the switch panel. My combo boost/EGT gage is in the hole now.

The switch to operate the Jacobs E-Brake is the same as the fog light switch except for the "EB" printed on it. Maybe Jacobs has a better price.
