I am going to replace the front and rear pads on my 2001. 5 2WD. I replaced the fronts with Napa pads about 2 yrs ago and I have not been happy with the braking. I have also read on the threads about the rear pads comming apart lon before they are worn out.

I also have an older friend that wants front and rears on his 2002 4X4. We want pads that give good braking characteristics. I don't want $200. 00 per set super-duper-racer pads.

Any and all recommendations are welcomed. Thanks, Chris

This is nearly as dangerous as asking what is the best oil ... :-laf

I am using EBC "Greenstuff" pads front and rear and love em, have about 70K miles on the front and they are getting pretty thin now so will replace them in the next month or so, the rears look good for another 70K ... well maybe not 70K ... but should get another 40 - 50 out of em ... and they don't fall apart like the oem ones :D I am also using their rotors on front and rear and they show little to no wear after 70K miles so hoping to get 3 pad changes to 1 set of rotors.

Last price check I did you could do front and rear pads for just over $150 (shipping is free).

I am going to try the new "Yellowstuff" up front ... they are Kevlar and up around $120 for the fronts only ... They claim not to need warm up like other R series pads ... so I guess we will find out in about a month.

PM me if you want the part numbers, they will fit both 2x4 and 4x4 on years 00 - 02

I spent over 100. 00 a set for NAPA's best pads for my wife and my truck and was very unhappy with them. Took them off both vehicles in less than a month. Since then I have used Autozone's best and have hade good service usually get about 50,000 per set, take'em back and get some more for free. These don't make a lot of dust, are very quite and hold up well to heavy hauling. My 2 cents.

Geno's carries Hawk pads. I put a set up front and am absolutely amazed at the difference in stopping power. I thought they'd change with some mileage but they haven't. Now there's always a tradeoff, they are extremely noisey, (can you say garbage truck!) and relatively dirty, but by damn they really stop and they're not overly expensive. Greg
