I finally picked up my new (old) ride. A '95 12V 2500 Laramie SLT... . it is in need of some TLC and bumpers! It is a black/silver two tone, and I want to get a black grill and black bumpers for it.

I did a search for bumpers, but did not see anything for non-big bumper people like me :D

I thought I found the perfect rear Bumper, a Westin Contour ($189) or Contour Deluxe($219), nice looking, available in black powdercoat. . but they discontinued them:

All they sell now is a "Perfect Match" for over $400. Anyone know of something equivalent, or where I may be able to find a place that still has one in the back room?? I'm just using it to tow an open car trailer, so I really do not need anything super stout as I'll be using the 2" reciever for towing, just something good looking.

I did find this at Summit, but it is sort of... non-stylish :(

I'm also looking for a decent black front bumper, have found a few on ebay for like $135 delivered, and black upper and lower trim for another $80, has anyone put one of these on?

They do not sound like they are powder coated, and I'm wondering how they hold up...

I have an 04 2500, I have bumped a few walls with the rear bumper, at a crawling speed, the bumper looks like it's 20 years old. I can't believe they would put such a cheap piece of **** on their trucks. So I'm also looking for a new bumper. Good luck.

I'm in search of an OEM front bumper. Does anyone have the part #s for the bumper and all the associated plastic parts?

Viper, if you can find a chrome bumper for cheap, have it Line-x'ed black. I've never had luck with powered-coated parts, always chip or flake. The Line-x'ed bumpers would hold up forever.

I've seen these L&M OEM style on EBay, less than $200 with the upper and lower trim AND chin spoiler, not sure what they charge on shipping:

Another place is selling the plastic trim for $80 delievered in black and black, or gray and black, but their comments indicate they are VERY slow shippers.

Guess what, on a whim I called Summit, and they said they could get me a rear contour deluxe in black for $235 delivered, I said "sign me up!"

If the black comes off... . Line-X will be going on... . good idea. I'll likely just get the cheap front bumper and see how it lasts.

I may give this a try, I have an '89 Shelby Dakota, whoever powder-coated it's bumpers did great, 16 years and they are still perfect, no rust, and a soft mat black. The truck has always been in the sun while the fun cars sit in the garage, I wish the red paint held up as good as the bumpers!

Same here on my '02. Rear bumper has some dings in it, overall not bad but still what do you expect from the OEM, the bumper is the first piece to the "crumple zone"

For what they charge for these bumpers, I think I'll start a new project. I think I might build my own from scratch. That way I'll get it exactly the way I like it :-laf

Denver Off Road, Denver, Colorado

phone 970-858-8400 cell 970-270-6655. In older issues of the TDR he has an ad. Layne builds a beautiful bumper.

Layne is no longer in Denver, but in Fruita, Colorado, 10 minutes west of Grand Junction. Its still called Denver Off Road but the phone number is now 970-858-4010.

Layne makes matching front & rear bumpers from aluminum, although they look like steel b/c they're powder coated. Front bumper is 138 lbs & as strong as any steel bumper. He likes for you to pick up your bumpers b/c no matter how careful he packs 'em, shippers manage to mess 'em up. He will ship them, but prefers not to. He is very picky how they look & the detail is unbelievable. The fit is exceptional. He has as optional valance, also made from aluminum. Rear bumper has tool boxes built into it. They're not super expensive or exotic looking like Road Armor, but more expensive & better looking than Texas Ranchhand. He'll add or remove items w/o charging a lot more. We opted for the valance to keep critters from getting up into the engine compartment & he added 2 additional cooling holes to it w/o charging any extra. The front bumper will handle a winch as well, but looks good even if you don't have one.

He doesn't advertise b/c he's so busy he can't keep up w/ the word of mouth business. Call him. Its worth the $ & time.

My Dad picked up our bumper for us b/c he lives in the GJ area. When we decided to get the valance, I met Layne in the North Denver Metro area & picked it up while he was getting raw material for more bumpers. His reputation for welding is almost legendary among the old 4x4 crowd in Denver & goes back about 20 yrs or more.
