Doug, your going to need to swap plates or go with injectors to make 300hp. About the trans,if I were you,Id call ATS,DTT,and all the rest, talk to them, see what they have to offer, and then go into the archives, and look around,to get a grip on whats out there, and what the best setup for you is. Good luck.

douglas, you might call Don Ramer, at ATS in Denver. 800-949-6002 They are friendly folks there, and will answer any & all questions cheerfully, even if they don't sell you anything.

I notice you are in Ohio. Black Mountain Diesel is in Winchester, Kentucky, and they do ATS installations.

My truck is also a 1995 2500 with the 230 h. p. plate. I got the ATS complete re-build in April, I've put 8,000 miles on it, mostly city driving and I love it!

I got the complete Stage IV rebuild--that means they go through the trans and put many, many of their own forged, engineered & machined parts in it which strengthens it immensely. See the below thread where I posted my experience.

I love some key things about my ATS:

(1) It goes like heck in non-lockup because of the ATS stator. It is really quick in non-lockup... my truck feels a thousand pounds lighter.

(2) When the TripleLok does lock-up it AIN'T GONNA SLIP, I don't care if you are running 600+ h. p. and a thousand pounds of torque or more.

(3) The ATS Stage IV Trans is greatly over-built, and over-engineered. This means it will last a long time! It ain't gonna come apart towing or racing.

(4) The TripleLok TC is just a bear of a unit. The Clutches are made by Raybestos, and are Kevlar/carbon/Cellulose--they won't slip, burn, crumble or degrade period.

(5) The electronic controller is pretty neat. I turn a knob on the dash which sets the TC to lock up at any speed from about 20 to about 50. Turned all the way to the right, it locks up early, all the way to the left it locks up late. Then it will shift locked either up through the gears, or if you have your pacbrake on and turn the controller on, it will shift down through the gears, locked, braking all the way. Or you can lock it up in 1st or 2nd if you want, with or without the pacbrake.

(6) The ATS Valve Body oils the trans in Park.

(7) Don, Clint, Ranee and Fred are great people. They will listen to you and they have integrity. E-mail me if you want more specific info.
