Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need help & a lot of info

My Check eng. light is on. Took it to local dealer, said PCM had a short? and dodge no longer supports that part. My scan tool will not talk to it. The trick with key will not work.

1 what to check?

2 where is the best place to get a good unit.

3 is there some after market part to replace the PCM?









98. 5 3500 4x4 stock but with some hope

The key on off on off on will not work on the 98. 5.

Take the truck to autozone, they have a scan tool and it's free.

If in fact your pcm is the trouble you may have luck finding one on ebay. If not give Bob Wagner a call, or pm, he may be able to help. Dont take dodges word for the problem do the autozone thing and pull the codes for yourself. If you do get a pcm on ebay make sure it is for exactly what your truck is ie auto or stick exc.

p. s do a search on here i remember some problems with the pcm's and there were things you can unhook,check. Marco was involved with discussion. Luck

go to a cummins dealer and have them check the actual codes. no one can diagnose a cummins like cummins
