My '95 3500 reg cab 2wd keeps blowing the parking lamp fuse. I changed the headlight switch and it still blowing fuses. I noticed that you can put the headlight switch between the parking light and headlight position and get the parking lights to come on. After being in that position it overheated a black w/yellow tracer wire. It was burnt for about six inches so I replaced the wire. Still popping fuses. Any ideas?

try taking out one parking light bulb at a time, that should isolate the problem to one side. hopefuly if it does check the wiring on that side.

I will try that. I was looking at other threads and someone had said it might be the overhead light that shines in the bed? Is that possible?

it is possible, i dont have my service manual home so i cant trace the circuit. try takng the bulb out see if that clears the short.

hitch wiring

Sandifer,

Do you have the tow package? My '02 had issues with the four way plug by the hitch. I always use the 7-pin, and never looked at the four-pin. It had ice in it which caused the whole plug to melt, and therefore, it kept blowing fuses. It's worth a look.

Had the same problem. the wires in the harness at the headlight switch were melted together. will it blow the fuse with the headlight switch unplugged? if so check the harness. if not check wiring after the switch.
