Archived Need help, Blythe CA

Anyone close to Blythe CA? I have a good and friend and former co worker with a downed truck. he said the truck won't get any faster than about 36 m. p. h and is cutting out and hesitating. He has a 2000 auto that might or might not have a failed VP44. He's stuck and the truck is at a dealership they are wanting to do the intank L. P and a VP44. He currently has a Holly L. P on the truck and knows it is pushing fuel. Dealer wants to charge him around 4k for both. Allready informed him not to change the L. P if it's pushing fuel, pressure is above a stock L. P I also told him about APPS failures as well.



Anyone out there that can do the VP44 swap and save him from a dealer or know who can? I have known this guy for a long time and hate to see a dealer get his money. I know he's not a member which would change if I can get him help for sure.

boB4x4, Maybe he can have AAA tow him to your Mansion, It will be alot better than the Dealer having him over the Barrel...

Especially with Christmas coming, you have to buy me a Present...

Same here, I am about 3. 5 to 4 hours from there, I have a small shop and can do the work, but getting it here can be expensive. Last VP I did with an Air dog came to about $2900 installed. $4000 is rediculous. He could have it towed here and still save $1000.

If he's still stranded... have him disconnect the battery cables and reset the APPS... I had this happen to me during a trip across the country and an easy switch out of the APPS solved me problem. But until I got the part I simply disconnected the cables each time I had the same problem he describes and got to a parts store that had the part... I installed it in about 5 minutes... and if I can do it anyone can do itOo.

Id be willing to go get it if he pays cash for the Rental of a Trailer and Time? I'd be about 1/2 price of any TowTruck.
