Need help!!!- check engine light

[95REDRAM]

A friend of mine has a 99 Ram w/24 valve engine, 50,000 mi. He's had problems w/the truck that have him a little disheartened w/it. Now the check engine light came on this morning for no apparent reason. Truck seems to run fine but he's afraid to drive it like it is. Any ideas on why the light would come on and if the problem would be covered under warranty? Thanks for the help.

you can try disconnecting the batteries for a couple of hours sometimes this will reset the computer

don't worry....

i too have a 99 that did the same thing...

my check engine light came on the other day also for no reason. truck ran the same as ever. cycle the key completly on and off about 6 times in a row and it will reset that light. ... james

Know it sounds weird but if your fuel cap isn't tightened down at least four clicks the check engine light will come on.

James I'm serious. Used to see quite a few posts here by folks who cured their light problem by just tightening the cap or replacing it. Haven't seen any for awhile, I figured that folks just figured it out on their own.
