Hi All,
I need your help and advise if you have it. I recently had my 2014 2500 with 111K throw the P226C code which makes it sound like the turbo actuator is slow to respond due to cold weather. Well, it doesn't get below 80 degrees at night here in Phoenix so I know that cold weather isn't a factor. I went in to clear the code and I saw that it was also in there as a "permanent code". I cleared the check engine light but it quickly came back.
So! I went through something similar before without this code appearing and found my turbo actuator was bad last year so I replaced it with the Turbo City actuator from Genos. Paid $900 or so to get rid of the crappy Cummins part and now it seems I'm back in the same situation. I looked on the Genos website and they say if you have the P226C code, it's not the actuator.
I drive every day using my EB on auto for the most part to make sure the vanes are free and not clogging up with crap. My actuator had been working without issue a week or two ago I pulled my 5er home from Vegas. Never got hot and the truck was great. Now this....super frustrating that it seems the components that they put on these engines are not built to last like the block! The EB gauge says that when I use the EB in full mode, it will brake using around 20-25 HP and when I accelerate, the boost only hits maybe a max of 10psi even with it punched. Not sure where those should be.
Do I pull the actuator again to check the vane travel and make sure the actuator is not the issue or is this some computer that needs reprogramming?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
