Need help--ETH bombing

I'm as confused as ever. I have 7500 miles on a 2001 ETH 4wd. So far I have a 3" straight pipe exhaust and a K&N with a bored out airbox. I was intending to either upgrade to a 4" exhaust or buy a VA box next. A recent post said that VA's add very little power on the ETH's, and I do not know if upgrading my exhaust further is cost effective.
A couple of things to note. I'm looking to improve driveability and performance, not towing. Whatever I go with should also be easy to install. I've read the stories about people buying injectors only to not be able to get them installed. Any help is appreciated.
 
WyomingETH, DD3 injectors will make that ETH come alive but they are pricey and you need other goodies to go along with them like gauges, a larger exhaust, boost module, and possibly a HX40 turbo housing. I recommend starting with gauges (boost /EGT) and 4" exhaust then go from there.

I'm in similar boat - almost stock ETH, running a K&N RE-880, my exhaust is still bone stock. The new box from Edge might be just the ticket for us - I'm going over to the other post area to ask some questions...
Let's hope they don't forget us "almost stock" folks... #ad

I agree with Bill - First EGT - Boost guages and 4" exhaust. Options - DD III Injectors with Practical solutions boost module or just go with a PE Module. Either will get you about the same performance for about the same cash.

Project that got way out of hand: total "BOMB"
95 Wrangler 4. 0L, NV4500, Reverse cut Dana 60 rear 44 front, Altas II, Quarter Eliptic suspension in rear, coils up front, Warn 10,000 lb to turn me right side up and the list goes on!
