last week while filling up my 3500, i had fuel gush out of the filler neck. at first i thought it was because of the high volume nozzel, but it happened again with a small nozzel. now i can hardly get any fuel into the truck without it backflowing. talked to my dealer service mgr {who knows his stuff} he said to remove the rubber cover over the vent on top of the tank. this was put there for shipping purposes and supposed to be rmoved at the factory. id read about this in the forumns before and suspected the same thing. well i pulled it off and still have the same problemn. i have a 90 gal aux tank and guess what? today it started acting like it was losing its prime, and is flowing at about a 1/4 rate. im just about down to filling my baby up with 5 gal cans. any, repeat any, advice would be much obliged.

There is a float ball in the filler neck hose to prevent leakage in a rollover, although I've never heard of it happening I wonder if it's stuck.

Mine will ocassionally do this when I very first put the nozzle in the pipe and pull the trigger, if I turn the nozzle all the way on at first. What I do, is to shut the nozzle off, then make sure the nozzle is all the way inserted into the pipe, turn it on maybe 1/4 open for about 10 seconds, then semi-slowly increase until I have the nozzle going full bore. This has always worked for me, but you may have a "real" problem in your system.

Hope this helps at least a little.

Tom

by the way, 12000 miles on the truck, no problemns before. if it was the vent, wouldnt it have been a prob from the start?

Well this is kinda reaching but:If the "vent"
cap you removed was Red in color and horizontal, not vertical then you should have experienced some sucking sound when you removed the cap to refuel as there would be a
vacuum in the tank. If this is the case, could it have sucked in your tank, seems like I have heard of this happening, and the tank would not fill normally or to the correct amount... Jeez I told you it was kinda far reaching
