I posted in the "911" section a few weeks ago about my problem with my back breaks. I learned that I have to pull the axle and then remove a large nut.

My question is, do I need a special tool to remove that nut, and where the heck do I get one?

The o-so-helpful dealer said "We dont do tools sir. "

I asked, "Even if its specific to a dodge?!"

he replied, "We dont do tools sir. "

"'huff', ok thanks anyway. "

I would appreciate any help with this, as my breaks are now rubbing metal!!!

I've done something similar to this, not brake related, but I've removed the nut. If I understand what nut in the axle you're talking about, it's quite large. I am lucky to have a large truck service and recovery business close to me, so I was able to get a socket large enough to fit the nut. It was something over 2" I believe. I'm at school now, so I can't go check the actual size.

As always, I'll be corrected if I'm out in left field on this one.

Good luck,

Scott

I was told in my "911" thread that it was a special 2 9/16 rounded corner socket, so if you used a regular socket that was this size then Im sure I can find one somewhere or have it ordered.

I was just worried that a regular socket type would not work or would strip the bolt.

Correct, 2 9/16", rounded. Can get them thru NAPA. Just bought one myself, I believe it is a KD. I'll get the part number tonight.

Thank you all for your help. I found the tool on the Matco website.

So Phillip, are you sure its the 6 point nut wrench? That is the number you gave me, just want to make sure before I buy, as there is an 8 point also.

Thanks
