Whats in a name...?

The best to ya

We (Dad, Brother and I) used a John Deere 30-20 for my safe, once it was loaded in the horse trailer, slid it into the bucket and drove to the door, and slid it out of the bucket onto some pipe.

When we got dad's we used his 4 wheeler trailer, laid the safe on its back (on cardboard) in the trailer. When we got home, backed the trailer up close to the door, blocked the tires so it wouldn't roll, then unhitched the trailer, and slowly raised the tounge so the safe would cantilever off the trailer onto some rollers.

Both safes in the 700-900 lb range. As mentioned, it is a 2-3 man job, go slow. A pallet jack could be rented to move it longer distances.

I wanted to go pick it up Saturday but they got 10" of snow where it is so I just left a deposit. It is not 1200 pounds, probably more like 800. I went to my local rental store and they were pretty rude about the whole thing and wouldn't even recommend someone that carries any heavy duty items for what I need:mad:

We have some pretty heavy duty 4 wheel flat dollies at our office that were left over from a move a few years back.

Per all of your suggestions here is my plan. Wrap the safe in the plastic stretch wrap and lay it down on the dollies. Strap the safe to the dollies using tie-down straps. Place plywood down on the carpeted areas to ease rolling it. Bring 2-3 other guys to help.

I appreciate everybody's suggestions and will let you know how it goes.

You might want to stand it up b-4 going through any hallways... especially if youre going to enter any doorways in that hallway.

Ignore this if it's been posted already, or if it dont apply. :D

All went well!

Thanks guys for all the input. The safe moved much easier than expected. We strapped the safe to the four wheel dolly and it rolled around quite easily. I used a piece of 3/4" plywood supported with 2X4" to get it over the thresholds and in and out of the trailer. Here are some pics:
