New to the list and I have spent hours searching through the past posts with great enjoyment. I have just bought a 95 F800 with the 5. 9 motor and I just don't have enough power for the truck? Yes it's a big truck I know GVWR 26,000 but I'm not pulling all that much weight really, grossing aprox 32,000. My old power joke seemed to pull the trailer better?

I have been having some trouble finding a shop to do some upgrade work for me as the one shop I do trust is not interested in bombing anything (old school) but they did say they would turn up the pump and adjust the valves and something to do with the springs in the pump? They stated they could make it run better for sure but I'm not convinced I don't need a plate and new injectors to get the kind of power I would like to have.

Right now it seems to have decent power up into third gear but when I get hit with the wind or a long grade I'm dropping from sixth into fifth and lucky to hold 50 mph. :{

Does anyone know of a good shop in Omaha Nebraska or Lincoln that could help me with this? I would sure appreciate any advice you guys could throw at me.

Can you give some more info on the motor? 12 valve I assume, P-pump? How about a CPL # from the data plate on the timing gear housing.

IMo the 5. 9 is too small to do what your asking in that truck,and hold speed on hills. Its plenty of motor if you arent in a hurry. I would start with a boost EGT guages and slide the stock plate forward or buy one for TST or Piers. You might have to drive watching the EGT guage depending o nthe size of the intercooler,air fliter,and exhaust.

Judd:

Get us some information from the data tag on the gear housing (near where the injection pump bolts up) such as the CPL, hp rating etc. Are you running a Spicer 6 sp. w 2spd rear axle, allison auto trans etc. .

I have friends in NE that run several oil delivery trucks similar to yours with the 5. 9 and 8. 3 engines.

It might be a "230" hp set up. If so, I'm messing with a Ram that now has a "230" pump vs its oem 180ho pump. Perhaps you can learn from some of my "trial and error. " It doens't seem to respond to the TST kit(s) as well as the 180 or 215 pumps did. . More adjustments in the workds! :) When it was dyno'd after the pump swap hp went down! It can be made to roar, with the right combo I'm certain!

Good luck

Andy
