I was looking at the back of my turbo today (bored) and just took a closer look at the exhaust elbow. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it is about 3 1/2". Well, I got to thinking about why everyone puts on a 4" exhaust without getting a bigger elbow. I have been searching on these boards for an answer and I guess I need to post this to get one.
I noticed that Piers has a HX40 4" downpipe adapter for the HX35. So I am taking it that I can buy this adapter along with a HX40 4" downpipe and clamp and it would take the place of the restrictive elbow on the back of the turbo???
I know it won't improve the performance of a stock truck like mine, but I imagine with 350+rwhp and the stock HX, it would help EGT's. I wonder what it would sound like then with it straight piped??
Another thing to note besides maybe better sound and maybe helping EGT's, you would already have the downpipe and clamp when you upgrade to a HX40 and then sell the adapter and get most of your money back. Just a thought.
Any opinions/thoughts?
