2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Need Help-Lights

I am having light trouble started out the lights had went out then went back on with a few flicks of the dimmer switch. Then after that some time they would not come on at first but would with a few flicks of the dimmer switch. I changed the light switch, as had been suggested by other tdr members, now the lights come on but stay on brights and won't go to dims at all. Could it be the multi function switch or what?

There is another thread from a 99 owner where a photo is posted about an electrical connector that is burnt from the current flow... you might want to check that out...
