Well, the saga has ended I have received the results from Mallory..... the envelope please... . Bigsaint's 4150 died a short but prosporous (sp) due too... . debris jamming the gerator and causing cavitation, which destroyed the gerator and it's housing. Needless to say, I will be putting in a in line filter(Earl's, screen type) a. s. a. p. Mallory says the motor is Aokay.

I would like to thank the great folks at Century Performance, link is below, for all of their help and expertise. Add the link to Century to your favorites, they are #1 in my book.

Bad Fuel?

Scott, I'm wondering why your sediment trap didn't catch something large enough to foul your gerotor pump?

Nowel, my sediment trap is really just an enlongated bowl, no filter element. The theory behind it's operation is that the heavy debris would fall to the bottom of the bowl before entering the Mallory. Mallory recommends a filter that can stop down to 40 microns. I did some R+D and found that Earl's makes a in line screen filter that will stop down to 35 microns, which I'm going to put in line, between the pre-filter I have now and the Mallory. The Earl's filter is also rated for 4-5 gallons per minute, so it should be up to the task. Apparently, the 4150 gerator design is made to fairly tight tolerances, hence the damage from what I consider a minimium of debris.

The answer to having 7 psi for cranking is, there is a chance that the 10-15 psi at key on and crank can cause the vanes in the vp44 to not extend to the outer wall of the pump. thus not creating the high fuel psi. for injection, and a no start can happen. This usually happens on a hot engine. I have seen this happen. Hope this clears up the  psi.
