How to Identify Exhaust Brake.......

Latest fad in bicycle clothing - Yellow !!

We just brought home a 3 yr old Mo. Foxtrotter gelding over the weekend. He's chestnut colored with a flaxin (sp?) mane and tail.

I've already ran the obvious diesel, torque, soot, smoke, turbo, boost, etc, etc. by the wife and no go.

We name our critters with short simple names so we're looking for something that'll make him stand out.

Something with some braun or toughness sound to it, could also be a biblical name. He's already over 15-2 hands tall and will likely go 16 going by leg measurement.

Any suggestions?

(oh yeah, I tried DL5twigs and my wife looked at me weird):p

GF who runs horses came up with some,... Rammin TQ (not PC), Boost'in Ram (weak), Light smoke, Home cummins, Jerico's boost (biblical). By the way her filly is running here next week in Vallejo... . Trying to talk her into getting her into a Cal-bred race. Looks like I'm going to drop some coin. Mike

I vote for "Elmer". I've found it helps a horse behave better when he knows he's only one phone call away from the glue factory... .

(Just kidding - I love horses. Mine's name was Chief - a big b&w paint. Hope to have another some day)

Tim, congrats. My Dad's horses have been named Doc, Dusty, Cinnamon (mare), Squire, and Anvil (a Russian that was almost 18hands!)

Good suggestions so far. :D I forgot to mention his registered name is Tuffs Lazy Pine. The previous owner called him Tuffy. We already had a training horse here that was named Tuff, so the lil women doesn't want to have the same name again.

It's always tough naming those ponies! We had 29 foals this spring, wish me luck. I'd call him "trunk" if he solid and that plays off his registered name! We have quite a few older horse yet to be named. Just try picking out that little sorrel, well not the real little one, you know that one that is kinda small but it the middle but not as big as those other two! Whew! We have or had a doc, spur, ben, bobby, baker, ted, tego, millie, billie, bug, walter, pooh, blaze, roanbar, spike, tess, bran, hope, jack, sturgis, bubba, fred, peanut, bo, champ, and many more that I can't recall off the top of my head. Good Luck!

We name all of our horses after western movie characters. I've got a Gus from Lonesome Dove, a Rooster from Rooster cogburn, a foxtrotting mule named Sara from 2 mules for sister sara. One of our foxtrotters is named Princess though because of her atitude. She is a B%^$# whenever she has a foal and is loopy on high protein grain. Of course she is the Wifes ride. My farrier says I need to change her name to the Hell Bit%$ also off of Lonesome Dove but she is only ornery when she is getting fed high protein grain and has a foal.

Geez,

"Tuffy"... .

The poor thing is going to need therapy... . I think I would go over the top and call him Brutus or Romulus to try and balance out the verbal castration he's already received...

Trent

"Babe"

-Paul Bunyan's blue ox. Strong, steady, good minded, and doesn't get much bigger...

"Baloo" (bear), "Bagheera" (panther)

-Jungle Book

"Manfred"

-Ice Age Mammoth

"Tuffs Lazy Pine"? Just call him Speedy. Or maybe Planck (or Max). With a little careful thought, one might be able to apply Planck's constant to the energy output of a horse.

Ok. Maybe Planck and Max are a little to cerebral. :D
