Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need help on normal maint's.

My 95 Dodge Diesel has 44,000 on It now when should I change the belts. Mine does chirp when I shut the engine off. What the best AIR CLEANER for the 12 valve engine,what the best exhaust for power also not to loud because I half to lisen to my wife ***** at me for one reason or another. :-{} I keep my two Dodges In the garage beside each other all clean up ready to go. I was not planning on having two diesel's but you never know what tomorrow will bring. I was going to buy a new slide In truck camper for my 2004 but the price I did not like. I look for a nice used one but around here I could not find one. I found the 1995 Dodge Class C motor Home 25 footer and garage kept with 30,000 miles and look brand new for a price I could not pass up. My mean old wife just loves It. Ant she will drive It. :-laf The only problem Is she clames It. I guess she happy now. I don't recall what she was like before I married her??I do sleep with the light on?

Belt chirp is normal but if it is original belt you probably ought to change it, not for milage but for age. Sure like the idea of that Cummins driven C Class motor home.

I'd replace the belt, too. Maybe even the hoses, depending on what they look like. My hoses are still the originals. Still look/feel like new.



The belt chirp is normal. I like it myself. Supposedly, a Gatorback belt will get rid of it most of the time. Another way (don't recommend this though) would be to lower your idle speed. I won't do that though. Not safe. Also, with the new tighter torque convertor, you will need to keep it higher, so the engine won't stall when cold. Particulally if you goose the throttle and let off quickly.

I went on a binge to get my truck ready for the next ten years by replacing anything (the general idea, of course you never get there) that might be prone to fail. Generator brushes, starter contacts (Larry B) transmission cooling fittings, transmission etc. Slipped in some mods while I was at it Well I ordered all the hoses because they needed replacing (they were 11 years old, right??) but when I replaced them, my old hoses seemed to be more substancial, more limber and also somewhat thicker than the ones I replaced them with. Seriously I wish I had known how good they were, I would have only replaced that little skinny one at the front that connnects the thermostat housing with the pump; it was somewhat degraded. I seriously doubt that my new hoses are going to last as long as the old ones would have but I will never know. Just my observation of the wonder of it all.
